All classes above 25

Now that I have all jobs above 25, I need to decide what I really want to do.

I have Gladiator sitting at 44, and have for a while, and Alchemist at 41 still.  I’m normally one to try to finish jobs, but in all honesty, I’d really like BSM/ARM/GLD up more, at least to 40, just so I can make all the sub mats for Weaver/Leatherworker profit recipes.

And to do those, I’d need Mining up.

And since Mining/Botany are both 32, I could do both at the same time.

So basically, I’m telling myself that I need to level Mining, Botany, Goldsmith, Armorer, and Blacksmith.  That’s kind of a tall order, isn’t it?

Hrm, I should just suck it up and finish Gladiator, at least.  Tons of 40 leves should finish that up really quickly.  Or hell, just join a damned Natalan party.

Good King Moggle Mog XII

I’ve been trying really hard to burn through all my materials from gathering while simultaneously getting all classes to 25 or above.

I got goldsmith to that point, but I still have CRP, BSM, and ARM to go.  They’re 24, 23, and 23, respectively.

Also, last night I joined a linkshell Moogle party, and killed the Good King Moggle Mog XII 5 times (my first 5 wins and first 5 attempts, at that), and out of those runs I got the THM/BLM Maleficent Mogstaff and a single kupo nut charm (need 10 to get a Moogle weapon of your choice).

I find the Moogle fight to be much more fun than the Ifrit fight.

I really wanted to get a DoW mog weapon, but alas, I got another mage weapon to add to my arsenal.  Oh well, better than nothing.

DoL, BSM, ARM

I’ve been continuing my Disciples of the Land grind, getting both Miner and Botanist to 31.

I’ve made a tidy sum of gil with all the walnut logs/lumber I’ve gotten, as well, which I wasn’t expecting.

In tandem with the leveling, I’ve gotten my Blacksmith to 22 and my Armorer to 21 (Carpenter remains at 23).

I had a lot of Bomb Ash saved up from leveling Thaumaturge, so making steel in bulk has been pretty easy for me, thus making the leveling quite simple.

Between 20 and 25, you can only have 4 skills, so I use:

- Maker’s Muse

- Comfort Zone

- Grand Design

- Brand of _____ (depending on synth)

It’s strange how only 5 abilities can be available in one synth, but at 50 you can equip 10, and the 5 chosen come at random.  I’m not sure that’s the best choice on Square’s part, but regardless, I love the DoH changes.

This leveling binge has put my lowest class at 21 — Armorer, and that will continue to climb.

21 - Armorer

22 - Blacksmith

23 - Goldsmith, Carpenter

25 - Archer (lol)

Everything else is over 30.

Gathering Central

Since my Botanist had caught up to my Miner (at level 26), I decided to level them both in tandem when I do go out and level them.

Level 25 opens up the grade 4 leves at Cedarwood in Limsa, which is great since it’s so close to the city.  I don’t have to use any anima at all to go back and forth.

Doing that process of grabbing 4 leves (2 miner, 2 botanist) and choco-ing to Cedarwood, I have gotten both jobs up to level 29 with incredible ease.

I also have gotten very healthy supply of iron ore and walnut logs, both of which are ripe for leveling Blacksmith/Armorer (steel ingots) and Carpentry (walnut lumber), respectively.

That being said, I did sit down and grind out a lot of walnut lumber, and got my Carpenter from 20 to 23.

I’m not sure what I’m going to be doing this week, FFXIV-wise, but it will likely be continuing this same process, and dabbling in BSM/ARM/CRP leveling with the materials I get.  I still feel like I need a break from leveling gladiator / farming Serpent seals.

I’ve been farting around on other stuff lately, since I got bored with Gladiator and Alchemist.  Those are 44 and 41, respectively.
I got my Botanist from 20 to 26 since 1.22a came out, mainly because I was trying to get Crawler Cocoons from grade 5 harvesting nodes in Coerthas.  Then I decided it was a better idea to just do leves and hit the 30s before I actually try to do that.
With all the walnut logs I got from logging, I was able to get to 21 carpenter without really trying.  I was getting 1300 xp per synthesis (no rested exp) with the following setup:
- Maker’s Muse (3 guaranteed standard success in a row)
- Brand of Wind (+100 Quality on a wind destabilization)
- Comfort Zone (No durability loss for 3 turns at the expense of less success)
- Grand Design (Advances progress 20% at no cost)
Method:
Open with Maker’s Muse
3 Standard Syntheses (Puts you ~50% progress)
Activate Comfort Zone
3 Careful Syntheses (Puts you ~65% progress)
Spam Careful Synthesis until durability goes below 10.
If wind destabilizes, hit Brand of Wind for 100 free quality.
When durability goes below 10, hit Grand Design to finish the synthesis.
I usually ended up with around 300 quality, which awarded +250%ish bonus exp.

Patch 1.22

Uhhh…

50 Fisher? I did it!

Afterward, I decided to go achievement farming. First stop was Sword of Thanalan title, which means I needed to get 20 battlecraft leves at each camp in Thanalan.  Doing this task (along with as many behests as I saw) took me from 24 Gladiator to 43 gladiator.

I must admit, though, that the rested exp that I made sure I got each night helped out a lot.  Also, I used Gladiator to get 1000 serpent seals to hit the highest rank of patch 1.22…

Chief Serpent Sergeant.

I’ve beaten the GC quest version of Garuda, as well.  Me and some LS mates tried to 4-man it and get her down to 8% before I went to work the morning after the patch, then I got home and did an 8-man and she was easy.

I’ve yet to fight the hard version, but she doesn’t seem super terrible. Definitely tougher than Ifrit, though. I still need to fight Good King Moogle Mog, too.

I just don’t have much interest in that. I haven’t done Aurum Vale or Cutter’s Cry, either.  Maybe I’m getting too old for MMOs.  Or at least the MMO aspect of MMOs.

47 Fisher

Since my last post, I have been spending every day teleporting to and from Camp Iron Lake, grinding regional fishing leves.

Slowly but surely I was gaining levels, right around one per day.

Logging off in the Limsa Lominsa inn at night made the grind a little easier, but man.

These late 40s have been much slower.  Last night I went down to 16 anima, the lowest I’ve ever been, because I had to do more leves yesterday to get my daily level.

This weekend I’m going out of town, so hopefully I’ll have accumulated a lot of rested and anima so that I can finish up this job.

On the bright side, I have caught 500 crimson crayfish in the process, which will keep my alchemist busy for quite a while.
